How difficult is the hike in Fingal’s Cave? I imagine it is slippery when it’s wet. I’m interested in the level of difficulty walking both ways.

The walk is mostly level with some small amounts of variation. It is over rocks and the footing should be fine if you watch where you step. There are several you tube videos about this walk and the cave visit. Perhaps watching one would help you to visualize and address your concerns.

It’s very hard to assess difficulty because it depends so much on each individual and their perception of what is a difficult walk based on their physical abilities/perceptions.
As said, you walk over the flat topped basalt columns with a rail to hold onto.Watching YouTube videos would help.We last did the walk about 4 years back and there was a quite physically challenged (one very overweight, the other frail looking,both very unsteady on their feet) older couple behind us who took their time and made it fine.
