Ferry to Isle of Skye - Glenelg or Mallaig??

Leaving Oban early am, spending the day in Glencoe. then either driving to Mallaig or Glenlg and staying the night for early ferry to skye. we'll leave skye via the bridge after 2 nights in portree, then on to Inverness.

just wondering pros/cons between the two ferries? what about a choice/recommendations for overnight in either location?

if glenelg, where should we stop along the way from glencoe? after ferry, between ferry and our final stop in portree?

if mallaig, where should we stop along the way from glencoe? after ferry, between ferry and portree?

thanks so much for any help - i really need to hear from those that have been - it's our first time and can't wait!

I haven't taken either ferry, but the Glenelg-Kylerhea one has much more of a local community feel to it.

When you leave Skye via the Kyle of Lochalsh bridge, the Dornie Hotel has a nice pub/restaurant where you could get a cup of tea or a meal. (Check what hours they'll be open & serving food.) They are just up the hill from Eilean Donan Castle, literally a stone's throw.
