Feedback on Travel plan to Isle of Skye and Inverness

We are in Edinburgh from Thursday, 21st through Sunday, 24th September and have 2 days (25th and 26th) to explore Inverness and Isle of Skye area before heading to London on Wednesday, 27th September.
what are the options to best cover the highlights of this area?
We are considering to take local tour from Edinburgh to Inverness on Monday 25th and stay in Inverness Monday night.
On Tuesday, 26th take local tour for Isle of Skye and return back to Inverness (stay in Inverness).
Wednesday, 27th take train from Inverness to London.

We found plenty of day tour for Isle of Skye.
I am interested to know, are there one-way tour from Edinburgh to Inverness? Or would it better to go to Inverness by bus/train and do local sight seeing (Loch Ness, Urquhart castle, Caledonian canal, Cawdor castle)?
What are the options to do local sight seeing from Inverness?
Thanks!

Check Rabbies tours to see if something might work for you. I think that you would need at least 3 days to do what you want on your own.

I just don't think you have enough time to see both Inverness area and Skye in 2 days. You don't actually have 2 full days. You will spend much of 25th just getting from Edinburgh to Inverness unless you travel on Sunday evening. Ad then on 26th I assume you will need to head back to somewhere nearer to Edinburgh to facilitate your journey to London on 27th. I'd choose one of other of Inverness or Skye rather than trying to do both. How about a 2 day tour out of Edinburgh with Rabbies?

At Inverness you can't sensibly get to Cawdor Castle by public transport.

You would need a taxi.

You can do Culloden by public transport but would need to be there for opening time if you want to do Loch Ness etc in the afternoon, as they are in opposite directions.
You can walk to the Clava Cairns from Culloden, but I am unconvinced that to have the time to do so.
Better is either to make a day of Loch Ness, and do a walking tour of Inverness/use the HoHo bus (as you will need it anyway to reach the boat landing).
Or do Culloden, Clava and Fort George (maybe ending at Nairn) in the other direction.

Thank you all for your prompt response. As we will be traveling on Monday 25th, will keep that afternoon for local Inverness exploration, with HOHO bus and try to cover the Isle of Skye on Tuesday with day trip.

Would it more worthwhile to visit the Oban & Glencoe than Inverness?

Thanks!
