Feedback on itinerary for Isle of Skye & Glencoe

We are visiting Edinburgh for 3 days (9/22 through 9/24) for friend's function. We have 2 days free, Monday 9/25 and Tuesday 9/26 before heading to London on 27th and would love to explore Isle of Skye and Glencoe area (seems highly recommended ).
What places do you recommend to cover in 2 days in Isle Skye and Glencoe area?
What would be ideal location to stay to make best of two days? what are the options to get back to London?
Should we drive (rental car) or take tour?

I understand Glencoe is great for hiking but for now I would like to observe the beauty and plan next trip exclusively hikes.

Any/all tips/guidance is appreciated.

Thanks!

Check out a map - Edinburgh to Isle of Skye is around 235 miles and will take 6+ hours to drive PLUS time for Lunch and comfort stops... You will spend a full day getting there and then have to drive back the next day. It just doesn't make sense. None of the tour companies try and do this in 2 days from Edinburgh. It is a minimum of three days. This is possibly the best fix which covers Inverness and Glencoe. Even so it is going to be a long time sitting in a coach.

I suggest you have a rethink and chose somewhere a lot closer to Edinburgh. The Isle of Arran is a posible and is often called Scotland in Miniature. Either hire a car or take the train to Ardrossan and catch the ferry from Ardrossan to Brodick (takes just under an hour. ) There is car hire at Brodick. That would give a reasonable amount of time to explore Arran as it isn't that big.

If renting on Arran, drop the car off at Brodick and catch a train to Glasgow and then London. If hiring in Edinburgh, plan to drop off in Glasgow. To save time, there is always the Caledonian Sleeper.

Alternatively there is the Borders or Dumfries and Galloway. Both have some lovely scenery and you can see quite a bit in two days.
