Feedback about some things in Scotland

I am visiting Edinburgh, Scotland at the end of October for 2 weeks. Super excited! I have some questions!

  1. What is the best way to get to the West End from the airport? Should I take a bus? The train? A cab? Private Transfer? I know the latter makes it easy, but it is a bit costly.
  2. Recommendations for a day trip to see the Highlands.
  3. Do most places require cash?

  1. West end of...?
  2. Check out Rabbies Tours for daytrip to the Highlands.
  3. Most places don't require it. We had one B and B on Mull and one pub that were cash only.

The tram from the airport to Haymarket Station in West End is probably your simplest and most convenient option. We took the Tram from Old Town toward the airport in June with no issues.

A taxi to Old Town is about £26, so probably a bit less to West End.

Agree! Daughter used Rabbie’s three times- loved each tour! If you have more than a backpack- take a cab. Rabbies squeezes a lot in and no hassle! Look at their tours- on plane right now to Edinburgh- I’ll post our faves in two weeks!

I just returned from a 10 day trip in Scotland. I highly recommend Edinburg Black Cab Tours. Though they are located in Edinburg, we went all over Scotland. I love the Bespoke element so that you customize to your desires. And no worries, as it's a chauffeur-drive for just your party rather than a tour with strangers. Just my friend, our guide, and a Mercedes. Each driver is a certified tour guide/historian. It was amazing.

Rabbies tours are fantastic. I am ending my trip on Thursday but took the 1 day trip to Clava Cairns Culloden Moor and Glen Afric and the 4 day tour Western Highland Isle of Skye. Both were great. The guides are super knowledgeable and quite engaging.

Linda, I went to Clava Cairns today!

I’m traveling independently but have seen many of Rabbie’s small buses in multiple places I’ve gone and I even spoke briefly to one of the guides. If I was looking for a way to do a day tour or even a multi day tour if I didn’t want to drive, I would go with Rabbie’s.
