Favorite Scotland Websites for Unbiased Research and Good Ideas

In my research for our trip, I've found the following websites really useful for good information or ideas I hadn't thought of
1) Undiscovered Scotland
2) Visit Scotland
3) Rick Steves forums and articles (of course!)
4) Walkhighlands
5) Road to the Isles
6) Secret Scotland
7) Trip Advisor

Anyone have any others to recommend?

Rampant Scotland has been around for a long time and can be helpful...

Orkneyjar is a great site for information about the Orkney Islands.

Historic Scotland is changing it's name, but the website is still incredibly useful.

The Gig Guide for Scotland is helpful when you want to find out about potential live music gigs on your travels.

I also find that if you google a town or village you'll often find a website that is local and separate from the VisitScotland site.

And don't forget viamichelin for checking travel routes.

Thanks so much. How any any smartphone downloads for walking tours or things like that (I have the Rick Steves one)?

Thanks for posing the question, Craig, and thanks so much for the ideas, Pamela and Jarrald! I'll be checking these all out as well!

Of the list of websites, Visit Scotland is the government tourist authority, Historic Scotland its heritage arm. Whether that makes them more neutral or not depends on view point.
