Is there some place near Edinburgh that has a falconry demonstration? Thanks. Mary Lou
I have no experience with these two, but found them in a quick Google search: http://www.dalhousiecastle.co.uk/index.php/falconry/falconry-experiences/ and http://www.aboutscotland.co.uk/jedforest/.
There is one near Cumbernauld I keep trying to get colleagues to go to.. and a centre in the Borders.
Are you seeking to watch the birds or fly them? I say fly, if it is a buzzard it will get off your glove and walk.
Thank you Laura and MC. Our grandson (12) will be traveling with us and I thought he might get tired of the castles and battlefields and might enjoy a falconry demo. I will look into the suggestions.
It may be worth keeping an eye on the Historic Scotland website. During summer they have theme events, and falconary is often part of the theme. They also regularly have jousting at Linlithgow.
If you do get way north of Inverness to Golspie and Dunrobin Castle. They have a Falconry demonstration during the summer months (through mid October) in the gardens of the castle. It's quite good. But I would also second the suggestion of monitoring the Historic Scotland site for potential events. They do lots of children's events as well as ones for adults.
