Extended Tour From London to Scotland

Hey there,
Am performing with a choral group from So Cal to UK for a week. Am interested in an extended stay 5 day in UK and or Scotland. I am single female traveler, enjoy guided tours and time on my own. Wanting advice on how to get to and from (train?) and best way to fly back to LAX. Thanks!

There are of course train routes between England and Scotland, but we can't really advise you unless we know where you are starting from in England/Wales. You probably need to do some research to narrow down the areas of the country you want to visit as although it looks small on the map, it's quite a congested island and journeys take longer than you might expect. 5 days will barely scratch the surface, so much will depend on your interests and appetite for long travel days, as well as whether you want to move around during that 5 days or pick one area to focus on.

Also the best way to get back to LAX will depend on which airline you are flying with, and to which British airport you are flying into on arrival. I assume you haven't booked your return flight yet?

As Skyegirl mentioned, it would help to know more details about your trip. Have you decided on where you want to stay for your extended five days, or are you looking for ideas? Where will you be during your week with the choral group?

Either way, it would help to have more information from you. If you're looking for advice on an itinerary, let us know what your interests are. Do you want to see castles, small villages, gardens, hiking, coastal areas, moors, cities?

Can you fit in a day trip to Bath while in London by direct train and can you fly home from Edinburgh?

Thanks for all the replies!
I will be starting in London and would like to see Edinburgh and am very open to ideas and suggestions to get a “feel” of Scotland. Enjoy historical, cultural sites, whiskey, golf.

Yes I would like to see small villages, coastal areas, moors and am looking to fly out of Edinburgh.
Am researching on how to get around Scotland. Our choral group will be visiting London, Cotswolds and Windsor.

Can you fly home from Edinburgh and does five days mean six nights?

Rabbie's has day and multi-day tours out of Edinburgh with various themes, including whiskey (which is apparently spelled without the e there):

With only 5 days, I'd say go directly to Edinburgh when the choral group stuff is done. There are direct trains from London, as well as flights from Heathrow.
As far as getting over and back, I'm only seeing direct flights from LAX to Heathrow, so if your return flight is from Edinburgh, you'd have to connect somewhere. My advice is always to get yourself over the Atlantic in whatever way is "best" for you: cheapest, shortest, most comfortable, paid for with miles (best is very subjective). For it might be "with the group."

Trains ( something we don’t often travel by in SoCal) are the way to travel in the UK.

You can take a train from London to Edinburgh and a train from Edinburgh to Glasgow.

Best way fly back to LAX depends on what you wish to spend on tickets.

I fly Virgin Airlines Premium Economy and have done so for years. Take the overnight flight which departs LAX around 4pm and arrives at Heathrow mid day
