One thing I forgot to mention was while we in Scotland, we had brought our electronic adapters we always use in Europe. However, they won't work in the UK- you need another adapter to plug into the socket; then use the European adapter; then plug in your charging cords/cables. The first hotel we stayed at in Glasgow had a whole boxfull that guests had left behind, so we each took one to use for the entire trip. Just a FYI.
You can get an adapter for the UK that accepts the US style plug, they are even available in the UK.
We saw them sold everywhere, but since the hotel had all these extras just sitting in a box, we took advantage of that and saved some money.
Thanks
If using a UK adapter for US plugs, you don't need a European adapter at all.
Make sure, particularly if using items with a significant power draw, that the adaptor you use is certified to meet British Standard BS 8546.
