I’ve been reading that the tram in Edinburgh will be extended to Newhaven and will be operating this Spring. Does anyone have more details as to when ? We’ll be in Edinburgh the last week in April so I’ve got my fingers crossed!
The latest announcement is by June 21.
see this news article which confirms the 'by' 21 June date but won't be April-

Well, I was hoping we could get to ride it out to Brittania…maybe next time.
When I was in Edinburgh in August 2022, I found it easy to ride a bus to Britannia.
We were planning to take the bus before I heard about the tram extension. I just thought it would be fun….we’ll still plan on the bus.
You may see trams operating on the Newhaven extension while you are there, as they have begun test running this week. After that is completed and the system certified as safe there are currently plans to allow locals and school children to ride for free, before opening to the general public.
But general opening is getting close and looks set to be on course for "late spring", which is the current target.
The line is now certified as safe, with driver familiarisation now happening, so a June opening date seems to be highly likely.
According to BBC Radio Scotland's Good Morning Scotland, the tram extension opens today, 7th June 2023 around lunchtime.
I would think it delightful if a member of the Royal Family or First Minister participated in the first journey.
The first You Tube video on the extension is already out.
First Trams from both ends, in passenger service, departed at exactly 12 noon. It was all pretty uneventful, no formal event, but all happened exactly as it should.
I am up there tomorrow to ride the extension. Then hopefully do that rarity for me in Edinburgh these days, some touristy stuff.
