edinburgh to london

What is the least expensive way to get to London from Edinborough. I'm thinking about taking the train since we will have driven around Scotland and would rather let someone else drive i
if we can afford it.

Prices vary significantly depending on when you are travelling. Best prices for the trains are booked c 11 weeks in advance for trains departing after 9.30/10am.

There can be some cheap airfares, but the costs of getting to and from the airports are not insignificant.

The bus maybe cheaper but will take significantly longer.

Train is easiest-but you should consider stopping in York and maybe Durham if you haven't been there already. Be prepared to handle your own luggage and get on and off the train quickly.

Hi, ruthamull,

Megabus (Stagecoach) from Edinburgh to London (twice daily) is about 14 to 28 pounds, if you reserve in advance. Other than hitchhiking or shanks' mare, it's the cheapest way to get there. The bus takes about 8 1/2 hours, as opposed to 4 1/2 to 5 hours by train. You can check out the Megabus website for a virtual tour of their buses.

Good luck!
