What is the best way to travel from Edinburgh to Inverness? Bus or train? Is it very expensive to hire a driver? Thank you!

I took the train from Inverness to Edinburgh several years ago. It was easy and reasonable. Can't say that I even considered a bus with the ease and cost (and comfort) of the train.

Best depends on your plans. Are you just going from A to B or is this part of a bigger picture? Are you looking for fastest, cheapest, most comfortable? How many are traveling? Is there something in Inverness you want to do?
