Edinburgh to Glasgow

Other than the train to the bus are there any other ways to get from Edinburgh to Glasgow airport?
We are 2 seniors who don't feel like in one day taking a taxi to a train to a bus to a plane.
Are there any car services that would not cost the price of a hotel nights stay?
Thank you

A bus might eliminate one connection, depending on your proximity to Edinburgh Bus Station, but appears to always include a connection at Glasgow Buchanan Bus Stn (per airport and CityLink web sites). It will be more than an hour ride by taxi, and I'm not aware of any cheaper services. You could ask your hotel staff, but I think it's not going to be a request they handle very often.

You could spend your last night in Glasgow instead of Edinburgh to make your trip to the airport simpler.

If you have not purchased your tickets yet, I can highly recommend the Edinburgh Airport. It was a breeze landing there, getting through immigration (10 minutes), and taking the bus to the Waverley station. I'm sure it would be just as easy in reverse.

We have not purchased yet but going out of Glasgow saves us 500 or so
the idea of a night in Glasgow is interesting.

I have done this trip several times and it really is not that hard to do. You have your B&B arrange for your taxi to Waverly or Haymarket. You arrive in Glagow and walk on the bus. It sounds like a lot, but it really is smoothly done, unlike US public transit.

Here are the directions to the stop near the Queens Street Station. Get off the train, walk past the ticket barrier, turn left and go out the Hannover Street exit. Cross the parking lot (small if I remember correctly), past the taxi stand ( of course, you could stop here and take the taxi), the stop is up to the left. Bus stop will say airport. They come often. I don't remember waiting longer than ten minutes,

Hmm, I wonder if there is a Glasgow version of the MTA's Bustime....

We have always just gone to Buchanan bus station, presented my wife to the ticket counter, and gotten a bus ticket One thing to remember is that you will need small coins to use the toilet. at the terminals. Quenn street Station to Buchanan bus station is not a great walk, about twenty minutes for us oldsters, but it is slightly uphill and one street over to the right.

Pam, let me know if I'm wrong.

Queen Street to Buchanan Bus Stations is about 300 metres if you come out the North Hanover St side of the station. Up hill but it is not that steep a hill. A longer distance if you come out the Buchanan Street side as you would need to go around the Royal Concert Hall. Both routes are signposted. Don't, however, rely on the street name. Buchanan Bus Station is not on Buchanan Street, the Royal Concert Hall and Buchanan Galleries shopping centre are in the way and hence it is the long way round.

you could get the bus from Edinburgh to Glasgow Buchanan street bus station and then the airport bus from there , the stands are next to each other in the bus station .Not sure if you can buy an all the way through ticket.
Bus station in Edinburgh is in St Andrews Square a short walk from Waverley and the buses run ever 20 minutes or so depending on time of day.

I don't think that you have to walk to Buchanan Bus station to catch to the bus, right MC? Doesn't it stop nearer the bottom of the hill for Queens Street?

If you do decide to spend your last night in Glasgow, stay in town. Don't go out to the airport! I stayed at the Premier Inn near George Square and caught the Airport bus in George Square. I bought a ticket in TI on George Square. And I think it was two short blocks to the bus.
