Edinburgh - suggestions for birthday dinner?

Looking for suggestions for a place with good food for a birthday dinner while in Edinburgh. We are not bringing dressy clothes so jeans will have to do. Just two of us so smaller is better. Seafood would be ideal. We are staying at the Sheraton in Festival Square. Thoughts??

One of our favorite places to eat in Edinburgh is Maison Bleue at 36 Victoria St. just off George IV Bridge St. just off High St. (The Royal Mile) and close to the castle. You can't miss the blue façade. Did not need reservations for lunch, bur reservations are advised for dinner. Small place, same ownership for years, and excellent food. Go to googlemaps.com, type in the address, and you'll be able to locate it easily. You can use the street view to "walk" to it before leaving home.

We really loved Scran and Scallie in Stockbridge! The food is amazing, nice atmosphere, we were dressed super casual/jeans and the place absolutely lives up to its reputation!! (You will need to make a reservation.)

From where you're staying, you can enjoy a lovely stroll up to Dean Village, walk along the Water of Leith to Stockbridge and then to the restaurant to enjoy dinner! (I will dream of their sticky toffee pudding and steak pie for years to come.) It's only about a 20 min. walk back to the Royale Mile and we swung by Circus Lane on our way back - so so charming.

Thanks all for the suggestions! By chance we ate lunch at Scran today and walked by Maison Bleu yesterday. Thanks again!
