Edinburgh - Skye - Aberdeen

Hi!

We are planning a trip to Scotland and I'm wondering if the road trip we have in mind is OK, considering the different places we want to visit and driving distances.

We will be arriving to Edinburgh early in the morning on July 22nd (we have been there already, so there's no need to be there for more than 1 night)

July 23rd - Start our drive going through Stirling, Callander, Crianlarich and arriving to Glencoe to spend the night.

July 24th - Drive through Fort William, Invergarry, Kyle of Lochalsh and spend the night in Skye

July 25th - Leave to Inverness and spend the night there.

July 26th & 27th - Turriff for 2 nights where to visit my relatives.

July 28 - Spend the night in Aberdeen to leave next day early in the morning.

Can anyone tell me if it's too much for just 1 week?

Thanks in advance!

It is a lot for just one week. From Aberdeen, do you have to drive to Edinburgh to fly out? I'd be very nervous spending the night that far from the airport if so. You never know if there could be road construction or if you'd have car trouble or something.

If I were you I'd skip Aberdeen, if your priority is to see the places listed on your first leg (prior to Turriff). If you return someday to visit your relatives on another trip, you could focus on the Aberdeen side and include more eastern destinations like Balmoral and Glamis castles and perhaps St. Andrews.

Thanks a lot!

And what if we just drive straight to Skye from Edinburgh, spend 3 nights there. Then drive to Turriff to stay 2 nights, and then back to Edinburgh the night before our flight?

It's a long drive from Edinburgh to Skye. I think your plan to stay in Glencoe the night of the 23rd is wise.
