Hi, I’m trying to book hostels for early August. Is there any recommendations? Is it busy or bad weather in early August?
August is probably the busiest month in Edinburgh between the Fringe Festival and the Tatoo.
I wouldn't wait too long to make hostel or hotel reservations. Most places book up months in advance.
it's the festival throughout August so Edinburgh is choc-a-bloc but it's the best place in the world to be.
Weather who knows - it's Scotland.
the SYHA is good https://www.hostellingscotland.org.uk/
It will be incredibly busy in Edinburgh in August. Unless you really like crowds then maybe think again. August is typically quite a rainy month in an already rainy country. I would imagine hostels might already be booked up during Edinburgh festival and fringe festival. You might be better looking to stay in somewhere fairly close like Dunfermline. If you can find a hostel try the Premier Inn, Holiday Inn Express or Travelodge chains.
I have no knowledge of hostels, but there's no place I'd rather be than Edinburgh during Festival.
My wife does not concur.
If you’re looking for a B&B we loved kingsway Guesthouse. Delicious breakfast, right on bus line, in an area that’s quieter but with restaurants and bars. https://edinburgh-guesthouse.com/
