Edinburgh Private Guide

We will be in Edinburgh for one day on July 4, 2018. We are looking for a private guide to show us the city. Any recommendations? There are 6 in our group. Thanks.

Are you interested in a private guided walking tour (which will probably focus on the Royal Mile), or a private guided bus/van that will take you all around the city?

Rick Steve’s Edinburgh book and Lonely Planet books both have recommendations.

Hi, Judy,

I can personally and highly recommend Bill Hill. Not only will you learn a lot about Edinburgh, but you'll have a great time doing so. You can check out his website, or you can give him a ring at 011 44 7899 878857. If you're calling from within the U.K., it's 07899 878857.

I haven't seen Bill for a couple of decades, but I know him to be one of the funniest and most knowledgeable people you'd ever want to meet.

He won't remember me, but if you're in touch, tell him thanks for the lyrics to "Beechgrove Garden."

Who did you end up using as a private guide? How was it? My husband and I are hoping to book a day trip to St. Andrews and Fife for a guided tour while staying in Edinburgh in October. Bill Hill is on holiday or I’d be using him, but he’s excellent. Now I’m working with Helen at Afternoon Tea Tours. Please let me know who you booked and how the experience was? Thanks.
