We are planning a trip to Scotland for October 2026., and we will walk, or use bus or train transportation. We will be in Edinburgh for 5 nights and are looking for an AirB&B. Is there a good location to recommend: New Town, Old Town, or in between? We will then be in Glasgow for 2 nights. Any recommendations for a moderate price stay and good location near the main attractions?
Old Town is steep, New Town isn’t, if that is important.
I don’t think Glascow is a real place, but Glasgow is. The gow part is pronounced “go”.
Hi Joyce, Just a heads up, you got the spelling of the city that is harder to spell correctly, lol, Edinburgh. Probably an auto correct or fat thumb misspelling, but it’s Glasgow. You can edit it if you don’t wait too long. (I know these things from many edits :) )
Check into this B and B in Edinburgh. Kingsway guest house. It gets rave reviews and while I had to cancel a previous reservation and haven’t stayed there yet, I did correspond with the delightful owner several times.
They book up well in advance.

We stayed in the Motel One in Glasgow Oswald Street and found it to be very affordable and convenient for a couple nights. Very helpful front office staff.
For Glasgow, what are the attractions you are interested in? This will help you decide if it's to be the west end, near the Kelvingrove/ Argyle St and other sites or the downtown core near Buchanan St./Sauchiehall - Glasgow Cathedral/ Necropolis, etc.
I 2nd the recommendation for Motel One. We stayed there in June 2022. Good location.
