Has anyone traveled down to Tweedbank via Train and walked to http://www.scottsabbotsford.com/. I am considering doing this on one of my free days before the September RS Scotland Tour,
Yes,i did it a few weeks ago, train takes about an hour from Waverley and you can walk to Abbotsford in about 10-15 minutes from Tweedbank station, there are signs to point the way. there was a person from the local tourist board at the station helping with queries and handing out map.Cost for the train is about £11 return and they run every 30 minutes. well worth a day out.
Oh Thank you!!
btw the train passed within 150 yards of my house on the south east side of Edinburgh, there is a pub near the station between there and Abbotsford, don't know what it is like but might be worth trying for a little refreshment.
How great that you can do this on your own now! You'll enjoy Abbotsford. The library was amazing. :)
