Finishing up our itinerary for Edinburgh. What do you think would be best to reserve an entry time for the castle? Wednesday between 3:00 pm or Friday at 9:30 a.m.? Are there any discounts or 2-4-1 passes available?
Also, I don't see a price to enter Greyfriar's Kirkyard on their website. Is it free?

Greyfriars Kirkyard is a churchyard rather than a paid-for tourist attraction. You can just wander in and around.
Thank you! Any idea on queues and crowds when visiting on a weekday afternoon versus a Friday morning?
I was just there today at 11:30 and there was barely any queue. We purchased the Royal Edinburgh ticket which was a great deal. Entrance to the Royal Yacht Brittania, Holyroodhouse palace, Edinburgh castle and 48 hours on three different hop on hop off buses for about 50 pounds. The tickets were also skip the line.

Do you mean for the graveyard or the castle? I’ve been to the graveyard in the midst of August festival time and it’s always pretty quiet.
I’ve only ever been to the castle in August but even then it wasn’t as crazy as I’d expected. I got there at opening time.
Last June we actually went to the castle on a Saturday around 11:30. There was a line, but it was 15 minutes, maybe. The Castle is part of Historic Environment Scotland. Here's the link to the passes.
