Edinburgh beginning of December

Hello. I haven’t been to Scotland since 1985, think it’s about time for a visit.
We’re trying to decide between Edinburgh or Helsinki/Tallinn for a week the first week of December. We won’t be renting a car, walking and using public transportation.
Can someone please recommend a few places to stay that are under £150 a night, in a walkable area to the majority of sights?
Thank you

Have a look at Premier Inns, who consistently get good reviews. . They have several places in Edinburgh and offer comfortable and clean rooms at a reasonable price. The Hubs are cheaper as the rooms are smaller with less storage space.

We liked the Motel One Princes Street which is actually a hotel and not a motel. It is located right next to Waverley Station in the New Town, a short walk to the Royal Mile and directly across from the Balmoral Hotel. It was clean with comfy bed and pillows, nice bathroom with a step in shower and fluffy towels. It was pretty much no frills so no closet (just a couple hangers for your coats), no in room safe or minibar but it did have a kettle and coffee and tea supplies. Ask for a room with a view. There is a sister hotel Motel One Royal at the opposite side of Waverley Station at the foot of Cockburn Street which I am assuming would be of similar quality. I would stay at this hotel again.
