Edinburgh and Inverness Lodging Suggestions?

My go to hotel for Inverness is the AC Marriott. It's very close to the centre, by the river Ness and has a car park. Lovely walk along the riverside into the city centre, which will take you about 5 to 10 minutes.

In the New Town of Edinburgh lots of people like the York Place Premier Inn. If you want to go a bit more up market (and up budget) then I really like The Caledonian, which is a Hilton. Not a budget option by any stretch of the imagination, but it is lovely.

We stayed in 2 different properties in Inverness. One was a very traditional B&B called the Eildon guest house. It was about a 10 minute walk to the center. We also stayed in an apartment called the Arthouse apartments which was right by the river. This was a more luxurious property with laundry facilities, etc. We enjoyed both of them and Inverness very much! We stayed there before and after a Rabbies tour to Orkney.

In Inverness, I have stayed at the Premier Inn Centre River Ness a few times.

It's right across the river from the center of town with two bridges easily taking you into town. A few minutes walk.

In Edinburgh, on my last two trips, I stayed at the Resident Edinburgh. It's in New Town but you can easily get just about anywhere.

Warning....Edinburgh hotel prices are getting ridiculous. I paid more for a standard room at the Resident Edinburgh than I paid for a bigger room at a Resident Hotel in London. Both trips were last month.
