What are the best non rental car options for getting to our hotel in St. Andrews?
Since we'll be coming off of a long trans Atlantic flight, I'd like to be able to plop down in one conveyance for a quick and easy transfer. The bus and train options seem onerous. A taxi is costly. I thought there would be a shared shuttle but I am having trouble finding that.
Any help appreciated.
If you were staying in Dundee there is a non stop coach from the airport.
But for St Andrews the easy way to do it is to take the 747 bus to Halbeath Park and Ride (on the north side of the Forth Bridge), then the X59 coach-bus from the same stop to St Andrews
The bus via Halbeath is a very easy way to get to St Andrews. Not at all onerous in my opinion.
By the way I've seen that service today.
The 747 has huge luggage racks at the front of the bus, purpose designed for airport traffic.
It leaves from Stop G, which is to your right as you exit the airport terminal.
The Halbeath to St Andrews bus is a coach, so your luggage is stowed underneath the bus.
The frequency of the 747 bus from the Airport to Halbeath has now increased from every 30 minutes to every 20 minutes- this is the new timetable-
