We are staying in Edinburg from Thursday to Monday in the first week of March. I heard that many must see places are closed in the Winter and on Sunday. Is there a place with a list of what is closed in Winter and Sunday?
The season in Scotland tends to be March to September. There may be still some places in this country that do not open in March on Sunday, but I would not expect it to be many. Also there will be no official list of 'Shut on Sunday' places.
Take advise from the hotel staff, and visit the Tourist Info Places.
Have you made a list of the places that you really want to visit? Then simply check their websites.
- The Castle--open
- Museum of Scotland--open
- Gladstone's Land--not open until mid April
- Georgian House--open
- Holyrood Palace--Open
- Royal Botanical Gardens--open
- Royal Yacht Britannia--open
- The Scotch Whisky Experience--open
- Camera Obscura--open
- The Writers Museum--open
So, who told you that places are closed? Only one of the ten places I checked was closed on Sunday, and it's not open during the week either. I think you'll have plenty to see and do.
Edinburgh is a year round tourist city and very few places close on Sundays and even less seasonally. What places are on your list?
