We will be in Edinburgh over the Easter week-end. Can anyone suggest a nice spot for lunch/dinner on Easter afternoon? There will be my husband, our college-age daughter, and myself. We'd also appreciate any suggestions for an Easter church service. We won't have a car, but will be staying close in. We're renting an an apartment right beneath the castle, above Grassmarket.
I'm not real big on churches although I've been to many. St. Giles seems like an obvious choice. Its not a far walk from where you will be staying. The kirch will have a WEB site.
Remember St Giles is part of the national church, The Church of Scotland, which is Presbyterian. The Scottish Episcopal Church is part of the Anglicans and Edinburgh is the seat of one of the largest Catholic Dioceses in Scotland. Then you will have the denominations you'd expect of a large British city, URC, Methodists, Society of Friends, Baptists, etc.
Thank you for the information on churches, Monte and MC! I think that we'll look into attending Easter services at St Giles. It will be an easy walk from where we're staying and should be quite memorable.
Be sure to visit the Thistle Chapel inside St Giles.
Thank you, Beth! I just looked up the Thistle Chapel and will definitely make an effort to see it. My daughter tells me the we should try to get to Rosslyn Chapel as well when we're in Edinburgh, but that will require a bus ride, so we'll save that for another day.
