So due to work schedules the only times available to me to go to Scotland and England are either the first half of October or the first week in November. It will be my wife and I and we would like to see Edinburg, Bath, York, and the Cotswolds. Would one of these dates be better in terms of crowds or weather? Thank you for any help!
Don't know about weather but the big difference will be sunlight. I would rather go when the days are longer. With shorter days comes cooler weather so I would opt for early Oct.
Early October just because of more daylight hours.
Btw it’s Edinburgh and it doesn’t rhyme with Edinburg, Texas.
I think I accidentally erased the "h" when I missed the comma and went back to put it in....was on my way out the door while I was typing it. I feel embarrassed because I actually do know better🙃
Sunlight diff will be huge, and weather risk, too...October for sure.
Was in Scotland and northern England last September through mid-October. We needed light jackets on most days. We did get more rain than we had on previous UK trips, but it didn’t make us change plans too much. My vote is for October.
Thank you so much for the replies! Sounds like October is the better choice. I truly appreciate the help!
There are two things to take into account. Daylight and opening.
Daylight, the daylight noticeably shortens in October, and November is after the time the clocks go back. It gets dark early.
Opening, a lot of tourist sites in Scotland outwith the central belt close at the end of October.
