Early June - 2.5 days in Edinburgh - What would you have your mom see?

Traveling solo as a senior to Edinburgh and the Highlands the first week of June. I arrive mid-day on a Sunday into Edinburgh and would like an itinerary for that day, along with the next two days. After that, I am on a Hairy Coos tour of the highlands. I love history, good food, gin, bourbon, and whiskey, as well as quaint shops and treasures. What would you have me do, along with suggestions for sustenance and travel cards!

I've visited a couple times, but my favorite thing to see is the Royal Yacht Britannia. Her late Majesty really loved it and it seemed like a place where she could relax and have fun. P.S, I also love Hairy Coos..

I'm a senior and was in Edinburgh for 3 nights at the beginning of my trip last June plus 2 more at the end.

On my arrival afternoon I walked around St Andrew Square, sat down next to the Paddington Bear statue and then had afternoon tea at the Ivy at 3P. Walked a little more afterward because I was so full, lol....along the Princes St Gardens to see the Burns Monument.

I spent 2 full days doing the National Museum of Scotland particularly to see the Scottish History floors with the Neolithic displays. I also enjoyed the National Gallery of Scotland that afternoon. The next day I did Holyrood House (with a timed entry) and enjoyed the gardens along Princes St.

I had been to Edinburgh several times before so skipped Edinburgh Castle.

On my return to Edinburgh I had a full day I had planned out a DIY walk from my hotel to Dean Village, then along the Water of Leith Walkway to the Royal Botanic Garden but it was pouring rain and I was too pooped from 3+ weeks on Orkney and Shetland to make myself do it, lol! I've got it saved for next time.

The other places I ate were Dishoom and Amarone, both recommended by a forum member. They were delicious. I also ate lunch at the National Gallery which was pretty good.

Have a terrific time. Do you know where you are staying?
