Driving in Edinburgh

I'm looking for recommendations. I will be traveling in September, and I will be hiring a car. We will be staying in Edinburgh for one night and then traveling to Bamburgh, up to Inverness, the Isle of Skye, and back down the west coast, ending in Edinburgh. I don't want to drive in Edinburgh. Is there a location outside of the city that is convenient to trains/buses/taxis, where I can stay to start and end my trip while still having the chance to enjoy Edinburgh?

The airport. It’s easy to reach via a taxi or the tram and en route to Bamburgh.

My experience doing this was a seamless and trouble-free rental from Arnold Clarke by the airport. The location is a short distance from the airport but they offer a free shuttle to and from the airport. https://maps.app.goo.gl/bWB1MZujhckxmpMr8?g_st=ic

It would be easy to take the tram or bus to the airport, then ride their shuttle to get your car. And reverse the process when you come back.

Just to clarify, sorry I didn't make it clearer, I'd like to pick up the car at the airport and stay outside of Edinburgh around the bypass while still being able to catch a bus/train/taxi into the city center.

There are park and ride services on the western side outside the bypass.

Ingliston - right by the airport - for the tram and right on the A8 between the A720 bypass and the M9 motorway is one of the biggest.

@MC-Glasgow Thank you for the information. That is exactly what I was looking for! Searching for Ingliston Park & Ride led me right to the Edinburgh Tram site. Knowing how easy it is to take the tram from the airport to the city center, I think I'll forgo renting a car until I leave Edinburgh. I truly appreciate your help.
