Hello:
Here is what has been recommended to us: Loch Lomond, Inverary, Kilmartin...
Any experiences on any of those places?!
It is about 200 miles from York to Loch Lomand. Any recommendations where to stop in-between York and the Loch?
Thanks!

Hi, Michele! It would really help to know more details.
How are you getting from York to Scotland? Rental car? Train?
What are you interested in seeing and what do you plan to do once you get to Oban?
This will allow people here to give you better advice. :)
Hadrian's Wall - loads of great Roman sites, especially from the middle eastwards
Melrose - Melrose Abbey, Abbotsford House
Roslin on the way up
Edinburgh - loads of very central sites
Stirling - great castle
Kilmartin is an interesting area and is full of amazing neolithic sites, stop at Inveraray on the way.
There are loads more options for the York to Loch Lomond section
I see you are driving.
The big choice is to go straight up the A1 for Northumberland, or the A1, A69, A68 route for Hadrians Wall and the Scottish Borders, or the A1, A66 and M6/M74 route for the Lake District and Burns Country.
If going up the A1 side, the east. In addition to Melrose there is Alnwick and Lindisfarne on the English side of the border.
If you decide to go to Melrose Abbey, you may as well stop at the other nearby abbeys, Kelso, Jedburgh, and Dryburgh
