Following Rick’s cover story in Travel News about dreaming of Scotland inspired me to go back and read my journal from our trip there 3 years ago. If you can get to Edinburgh in August (Military Tattoo, Fringe Festival, etc.), you’ll come away with memories that will last a lifetime. Stay safe, keep dreaming of Scotland, and when you get there, have the time of your life!

Aye, excellent post. And if you’ve got a second or third week, Scotland has many more wonderful places. Among them, head way north, to the Shetland island. Ferry from there to the islands of Orkney. Back on the mainland, the Highlands wait to be explored. Skye, another island, is a fantastic place all it’s own. Then Fort William, Gkencoe, fabulous Glasgow, Sterling . . .
Next trip, scheduled for this coming July, includes Perth and other parts north of Edinburgh. There are no nicer people than Scots!
