Distillery day trip/tour recommendations (Speyside)

Hi there, my family of 4 will be staying for several days in Speyside and would like to do a day tour visiting several distilleries. While I’ll be the driver for our trip, I’d like to book this tour to (a) be able to enjoy tastings with my family (as I wouldn’t drink beyond maybe a tiny taste here or there if driving) and (b) to be able to have a day of no driving so I can also enjoy the scenery and relax.

Does anyone have any good experiences with any companies that do private distillery tours in the Speyside area that you would recommend? Ideal would be pick up and drop off at our hotel in Archiestown, 17 mi South of Elgin. And bonus if we can work in some distilleries that include gin in addition to whisky. We’ll be there in early May 2026.

Thanks!

Sarah, I don’t have a recommendation for private distillery tours. But, you may want to to consider combining a distillery tour with a tour at the Speyside Cooperage. It’s a great complement to a whisky distillery tour.

Also, most distilleries will send the designated driver home with a sampler of the same whiskies the rest of your party has tasted to enjoy back at your hotel.

Hello Sarah R
While I don't have experience with their distillery tours I have toured previously with Inverness Custom Tours. They provide excellent guides and the tour will be designed specifically to your interests. Although they are based in Inverness they collect guests from most anywhere. We highly recommend them if your budget allows.
