I have read that the UK does not accept foreign disability placards for handicap parking.
We were considering visiting Scotland next year and wonder what is the advance protocol, in case we rent a car in Glasgow and want to be able to parking designated spaces.

Some disabled parking concessions in UK are time based so they need a parking clock on your dash to show when you arrived. Do you have one?
The official rules only apply to publicly owned parking but some commercial operators may offer something, for instance APCOA actually gives free parking in some payable locations - but there's a catch, these places are monitored by ANPR cameras that read the car's plates so you have to register the car with them so that the system will recognise it.
