My wife and I are having a lovely time in Scotland to land. Our travels will end in Edinburgh and we’d like to have an elegant final meal there before leaving. What are the best restaurants in Edinburgh for a romantic dinner? The Witchery is booked!
I don't know from elegant, but if the weather is cooperating, I suggest taking the tram out to Leith, maybe have a drink and an appetizer at the Port of Leith Distillery for the views, then walk around and see what suits you. I've eaten at the Ship on the Shore, which was nice. The King's Wark is a decent pub. There are probably a dozen restaurants in that compact area, which is lovely for strolling, and very different from the city center.
Hi,
Not sure if I would call it elegant but my wife and I enjoyed Ecco Vino in Edinburgh. It’s on Cockburn St. just off the Royal Mile. Good Italian food and seafood. Good luck.
The Kitchin in Leith is a good option.
My favourite in Edinburgh is still Howie’s (was there this month, still great) and if you’re going to Leith, Roseleaf Cafe. Lots of great options on Cockburn Street and Victoria Street/Grassmarket. Also lots of nice places now in Stockbridge.
We really enjoyed Howie’s as well last week as well. Delicious food and the staff was very accommodating. It might be worth asking for a quiet, more secluded table for two when you make your reservation and they may be able to accommodate if the reservation is made early enough. FYI, there is a 24 hour cancellation policy (at the Victoria Street location) that will charge a fee to your card if you need to cancel. It’s a very popular place it seems.
