Dining on Skye

We have a 20 day trip planned last of April through the first week of May. We should be on the Isle of Skye around the 30th of May and will stay 3 nights there. We have lodging reservations made but I have heard that I must make reservations for dining due to limited places to eat. Is this accurate?

Any suggestions on places to eat? We will be staying in the township of Glenhinnisdale about 5 miles fro Uig, 11 miles from Portree.

We go to Scotland this summer. I have read the same about making advance reservations. I plan to, as food is an important factor on my trips. Some don’t care or are not advance planners and then I’m sure u won’t starve, but you may not get to eat at the places and times you want to. I have emailed the B&B’s we are staying at to ask about good dining options. We are staying in Portree, which I understand can be very crowded. I will be making advance reservations! In the town u are staying in, it could be different, but there also won’t be as many dining options as in Portree.

If you find yourself in the area of Eilean Donan Castle (on the mainland, near Kyle of Lochalsh bridge), the Dornie Hotel has a nice relaxed restaurant and pub, very popular with locals, nothing fancy but good food and good value.

Thanks for the info. I don't know why it didn't occur to me to email the B&B's and ask about this.

Yes, make dinner reservations or be disappointed. Three of the best meals we had in Scotland were in Portree.

Scorrybreac is Micheline-rated and exceptional. I made reservations via email several weeks in advance.

See Breezes is on the waterfront and informal but stellar. Can't remember how I made the res. I think was may have done so the day prior.

Our final meal was at Dulce & Brose, again exceptional. Res made the morning prior, as I recall.
