Dining Ideas-Isle of Skye

Hi...2 food related questions for an upcoming visit to Isle of Skye.

One day we will spend driving the Trotternish Peninsula and doing some hikes/walks. Any recommended quick stops for lunch along the route, or would packing a picnic/sandwiches be more practical? One option I noted was 1400 Columbia.

For one of our dinners, we were considering The Old Inn (Carbost) or Edinbane Inn. We would enjoy a moderately priced spot that gives the flavor of Skye (in atmosphere and food).

Appreciate any ideas!

The Hungry Gull is a wonderful lunch spot in Staffin. It's located in the Village Hall/Community Centre and will be on your left driving north from the Old Man of Storr. Columba 1400 is also good, but I like the Hungry Gull better.

The Old Inn in Carbost would be my choice ahead of the Edinbane Inn, but it really depends where you are staying as both are decent. Another option if you're staying in Portree would be Gasta at the LAS Cinema/Skye Candles Visitor Centre. Excellent pizzas with unusual toppings. Definitely a place that locals frequent.

When we visited the Isle of Skye in 2023, we stopped for lunch at The Hungry Gull, too, and we thought the food was very good. There is a convenience store next door if you want to pick up drinks and snacks.

We had dinner one night at the Edinbane Inn, and all of our meals were delicious. There were 4 of us.

Another day we had lunch at The Old Inn and were fortunate to get a table outdoors overlooking the loch. Another great place for meals.

If you are looking for other dining options, we loved our meals at Fraser at Bracken Hide in Portree and A Taste of India, also in Portree.

The Edinbane Inn has changed hands this year and new owners are not getting as good reviews as the previous owners. However, it's not at all bad.
