I will be traveling to the Scottish highlands in March and staying in Tulloch castle does anyone have any suggestions on things to do, I know it is a very small area from what I have read. I know Loch Ness isn't too far. Any other ideas would be appreciated. Also we will not be renting a car. I plan on using public transportation.. We are flying into Inverness. Also any notes on Tulloch castle would also be nice. Thank you in advance.
I don't know much about Tulloch, but Dingwall, other than it's marvelous name, doesn't have a lot to offer. I had a friend who used to live there and and she would pretty regularly turn her nose up a bit about Dingwall. This was a few years ago, so maybe it's improved. Here's a link to the bus to Inverness. Here's another transportation link.
I used to stay in Strathpeffer. They often have a pipe band in the evening. Ask at your castle. There is a standing stone in Strathpeffer. Also there is a pavilion where they sometime hold ceilidhs. Inverness is great and has a wonderful TI. ' I've friends who have climbed Ben Wyvis.
As for Inverness--great restaurants, local music, Culloden, day tours to Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle, close to Cawdor Castle and Fort George.
