Craigmillar Castle

I will be visiting Craigmillar Castle in Edinburgh this summer. Any tips on how to get there? I will not have a car. Thank you!

where are you staying. you basically have 2 options by public transport. take any bus that goes to the Royal Infirmary (I work in the Medical school there) buses 7,8,21,24,33,38,and49 all go there. you can then walk up the paths from there to the castle and it will take less than 10 minutes on good paths. You can get off on Old Dalkeith road and walk up from there but there are no paths on the narrow road and the path through the field can be wet and muddy. the other way is takes bus 2,14 or 30 to Niddrie Crossroads ,then it is a fairly straight walk uphill to the castle passing through a short stretch of housing ,should only take 5 minutes or so.Just let the bus driver know where you want to get off and they will give you a shout at the right stop.
I walk past the castle most days on my way to and from work as I live close by.

We took the bus and it was quite easy. You will enjoy it! it was nearly empty on the day we went and our family had a great time and got some fun photos.

We took a bus from the center city. Our B&B owner told us which one to take. It let us off a short distance from the castle and we walked (probably a quarter mile). Nice castle that had few visitors. We hadn't planned on visiting it, but had some spare time and the Heritage pass or whichever Scotland uses, so it didn’t cost us anything.
