We (2 couples) are going to be touring Scotland in June. We're planning to stay for 5 nights (out of 11 total) near Inverness and do day trips from there. We're thinking it might save money to rent a cottage for 5 nights rather than stay in hotels or B&Bs. Does anyone have any suggestions about, or experience with, cottage rentals?
We will also be traveling in Scotland as two couples this summer and have reserved an apartment at Highland Club in Fort Augustus, at the southern end of Loch Ness. I know this is not Inverness, but it is convenient to touring the area. The website is http://www.highlandclubscotland.co.uk/. They have many apartments of all sizes available. We found it easy to correspond with the agent renting the apartments and are looking forward to our stay.
Two friends and I will be making this trip in one year, but we are considering the use of vrbo.com and airbnb.com for our rentals. Just an option I thought I'd pass along.
So, I just went to VisitScotland and clicked on Self-catering accommodations Highlands and Inverness. Prices ranged fro 350 Pounds to 1,000 pounds. The higher were in Inverness and Drumnadrochit. I saw good pricing in Nairn which is out to the east, Aviemore, which is to the south and more. I thought that this one looked very interesting.
Thanks for your replies! I had heard of airbnb, but not the other two. I've looked on Tripadvisor and they have some possibilities, but I think I'll wander on over to the other two sites just to see what's out there.
