Hello everyone. I am traveling to Scotland and Ireland in September. I have a Pixel 6a which has an esim, and Consumer Cellular is sending me a physical sim card for international use. A friend had trouble with his phone not working recently in Germany, so just wondered if anyone has used Consumer Cellular (I think they use AT&T) in Scotland and Ireland?
You might check the "Technology Tips" forum on the Trip Reports side, in case anyone has posted this specific info. Or also post your question there.
Here are a few threads from the Trip Advisor forum on difficulties people have had with Consumer Cellular internationally although none from this year. I don't have Consumer Cellular so no personal experience.
Well, this one does have a few posts from 2023:

Thank you, I'll check that.
I don't mean to seem a salesman for them, but for L10 you can get a Giffgaff sim card as a backup, if your phone is unlocked. Just take it with you and if your CC phone doesn't work, you can activate the Giffgaff and use it instead. It doesn't cost anything until you activatr it (they send you the SIM for free). I've used GiffGaff throughout Ireland and Scotland with no issues, except iffy coverage in really isolated places. It gives you 15gb or data and unlimited calls/texts to the UK, with 5gb in EU. Another L10 will add international calling/text for a couple per day. Larger plans are available, but assuming you aren't going to sit in a hotel and stream movies, you shouldn't need one.
