For those of you that traveled "Best of Scotland" in late June, did you pack light sweaters, long sleeves, etc.? Any clothing tips will be appreciated. I will be prepared for rain. Thank you.

I am curious for our trip there in early Sept. Ready with rain gear of course…appropriate shoes and layers…but range of temps? Not quite fall yet…but when does the cold hit? I live in upper great lakes in US and our warm temps now extend well into Oct!?
Hi Barbara,
I was in Scotland on that tour in August/September 2022 so I can’t speak to what it would be like in late June but I think you can’t go wrong with packing some long sleeve and short sleeve tops and a light sweater to go under your raincoat. I would also suggest getting a head net for your visit to Glencoe as the midges can be a bit troublesome. Head nets are inexpensive and weigh nothing. Keep it in your pocket to use if needed. This is a great tour. Have a wonderful trip.
Be prepared for anything and think layers with a mix of long and short sleeves. You can then add or subtract clothes depending on the weather that day. So far it has been a disappointing summer and not that warm yet.... It could all change though!
Scotland is far north - I would take long sleeves and light sweaters even for June. But be prepared with a few short sleeves for unlikely though more common hot days thanks to climate change.
There is the saying - I'm sure I'm not getting it correct - there isn't bad weather just bad clothing choices. Be prepared for a variety of weather and temperatures.
I was in EDI and Glasgow last year in mid-late September. I had typical weather- mostly cloudy, brief sun, a bit of rain each day and about 14-18 C each day. I took a lightweight knit hat, hooded water resistant rain jacket and a lightweight quilted coat. Underneath I had long sleeved tops/ wool blend sweaters. On the rainiest day, my very cheap collapsible umbrella lasted about 20 minutes because of the brisk wind.
I did this tour in June 2018. It was quite wet on the Mull/Iona day and the rest of the time I did fine in a short sleeve tee but many others wore long sleeves or jackets most of the time. I’m pretty cold tolerant.
To me sweaters are bulky to pack. I might wear one but I usually take a long sleeve dri-fit quarter zip for a topper which packs down small but keeps me warm if needed.
Hopefully your rain layer is waterproof not water resistant. You can layer under it if you are chilly.
