We will be in Scotland in September and don't have a firm itinerary. My friend would like to book a castle stay and we can then work around that stop. Any recommendations?

We stayed here in June 2022 the night before we took the ferry from Oban to Mull. https://www.barcaldinecastle.co.uk/ Loved it.

It depends on where in Scotland you are looking for. There is a nice castle that is reasonably priced for most of the season - Fonab Castle Hotel in Pitlochry. If you google that, it'll come straight up. :) Hope that helps!

I've always fancied a stay at Inverlochy Castle just outside Fort William. Not managed it yet though. It has a very good restaurant too. It would make a good base for touring that part of the Highlands.

Thanks all - these are great suggestions. When I hit the lottery, Inverlochy may be my first destination but some of the others are more affordable. Celtic Castles is a GREAT SITE.

I second the Barcaldine Castle suggestion. I stayed there as well and they are wonderful.
