Castle stay for family of 3

Hello

Looking for a castle for our family in June 2023. I stayed in a castle 3O years ago as a backpacker but the hostel is closed.

Thanks!

What area, and how old is the child? That may make a difference as far as how many will be allowed in a room.

We are starting in Edinburgh then into the Highlands for a week. Starting to plan for June 2023. He will be 16. Our only concrete plans are the Jacobite train and Isle of Skye.

Do a search on “castle stays scotland” and a numbers of results will be returned. Check them to see if any are in a place you’ll be visiting. You’ll also need to decide if “castle” means a defensive fortification or a large house like a chateau. Most appeared to be manor house/chateau type.

Hi, Angela,

You may want to try Barcaldine Castle, near Oban. Mrs. A and I stayed there in the mid 1980s, long before it was repurposed. The owner at that time let us stay overnight at no charge, in return for my running in to town to buy him a pack of cigarettes.

Mrs. A swears that she saw a ghost. We slept in a four poster bed. It was a fairly spooky place at that time, but now that it has been repurposed, it appears that it could be the answer to your search.

Happy h(a)unting!

Look at Dalhousie just outside Edinburgh or Fonab just outside Pitlochry near Blair Castle. A Dalhousie stay includes 1.5 hour in their spa. 😁
