Can anyone suggest a good car rental company. that will allow drop off in Edinburgh and rental in Glasgow without extra cost or at minimal cost.. Also has anyone experienced the Trike Tours and what is your opinion on them.
Thanks Caroline
Hi Carol
The other day I arranged a rental from Hertz for early May, but from Edinburgh and drop in Glasgow, with no drop off fee.

I really think that they all allow this. It's never been an issue. I've rented cars in Inverness and dropped them off in Edinburgh. I've also dropped them off in Glasgow. So long as you are within Scotland there really isn't much of an issue in my experience.

Hi, Caroline,
Any of the majors who have locations at GLA and EDI should allow a one way drop off at no charge. Many of the majors also have locations near Waverley, so that would work as well, if you're taking the train out of Edinburgh.
I've had good luck many times with Avis, Hertz, and Godfrey Davis (EuropCar).
Just had a quick look at the Trike Tours website, as I hadn't heard of it before. Looks dire. I can't imagine riding in the back of a motorbike in pissing down rain, or not being able to hear anything over the roar of the motor! Ah well, chacun son gout, as they say!
Slainte!

Hi Mike Thanks for the reply, thanks to everyone else also for your tips.
Just to reassure you, we've rented a car in southern England and dropped it off in Scotland w/o extra fee (Hertz). We also rented at Glasgow airport and dropped off at Edinburgh airport (Enterprise) -- again, no extra fee.

I have almost always picked up my car in one city and dropped it off at another on trips to the UK. Just go ahead and get some quotes. It seems to be a different model than the US.
