Car rental in inverness - Hertz

I'm booking a trip to Scotland in September, 2025. We'll arrive on a Friday at 2:30 into Inverness, and will need to rent a car. We're pretty brand loyal to Hertz, and so booked that (AAA members get a second driver free and 5% off). All was fine until I saw the hours for the location on the confirmation - it said they close at 4 on Friday and close on the weekend. Digging a little deeper, I found a different location on Hertz's website that had hours 7 days a week and later on Friday - Perfect! But which is right? Has anyone picked up a car with Hertz in Inverness on the weekend or Friday after 4? We should be fine, but have been playing a game of whatif, as our connection is in Heathrow (with 3 hours, but all the same.) Other car rental agencies in Inverness are open on weekends and later, so I can't imagine Hertz wouldn't also follow suit.

Hi, vielfrassgulo,

It may just be that Hertz has cut back its hours in Inverness, as this is a slow time of the year for car hire, and that is what showed up on your confirmation. The easiest solution would be to call the Inverness location, and speak with someone in person to confirm their hours and days of operation. Hertz has two locations in Inverness - airport and in town. From which location were you planning to rent?

Best wishes, and safe travels!

The town looks like a location at a home improvement store - not sure that's what I want. I'm attempting to call the airport location, but they just have a mailbox - no one picks up. And I'm impatient. I was hoping your suggestion is correct - that it's the slow season and it'll be all ok in September. But anxiety and all that and now I'm going down rabbit holes. Thanks for helping!

edited to add - the airport location will let me select a car to rent on a saturday in September, so with any luck I'll talk myself off my ledge, LOL!

Hi again, vielfrassgulo,

Glad to hear that you're down off off the ledge! Generally, airport locations have much longer hours than in town locations, and are open seven days. Was your initial confirmation for the airport or the industrial park location?

Yep, definately Inverness airport. There may be two locations there, one at the terminal (terminal building) and one for corporate private jet customers outside the termina (old military road, with more limited hours). My reservation is for the airport, and there's no option to choose the other location when reserving online - so maybe I'm in the clear? It just looks like there's a snafu in how the info is in their database and pulling for their records - maybe.
