Car rental question: We will be in Edinburgh for a few days prior to renting a car to drive around the country. Ideally, I would pick the car up on the edge of the city limits to avoid city driving. Any suggestions for a car rental pickup location?

Do a search on this forum and you'll find the often recommended Arnold Clark Car Rental. Their Sighthill location is very convenient.
You can book directly with them or through their partner Celtic Legend.
Compare prices for the same car. Celtic Legend usually includes free second driver and GPS.
Both companies are very easy to work with.

The airport. It’s easy to get to from the city center and easy to depart from to visit wherever you’re headed.

Same as the recommendation above, we picked up a car from Arnold Clark, Sighthill, rented through Celtic Legends. Was very nice not to have to drive within the city, and the cost was definitely cheaper than other companies when i was shopping around. Would definitely recommend.

Same as Jaimeelsabio's recommendation above, I rented at the airport. Easy peasy to get there on the tram, and then you are well clear of Edinburgh when you start driving.
