Car rental companies in Scotland

We want to rent a car in Edinburgh and return in Glasglow. What are some good rental companies that would have automatic cars?

I 2nd Arnold Clarke, or Arnold Clarke through Celtic Legend. https://www.celticlegend.co.uk/
The customer service was outstanding and not what I was used to from any traditional rental company.

Yup, Arnold Clark. They even price matched when I found a lower rate elsewhere.

We booked Arnold Clarke through Celtic Legend. Excellent service! We would definitely rent from them again. I had never driven on the “wrong side of the road” and communicated my trepidation about that. When we picked up our car in Glasgow, they made sure to use a pickup location that made it as easy as possible to get out of the city traffic.

I also had a great experience in May with Celtic Legend/Arnold Clarke.

If you want an automatic, book as soon as possible as automatics are scarce in Scotland and book up quickly.

I rented with Enterprise my last trip there. Any of the major companies should have an automatic if renting at the airport.

Ditto for Arnold Clark as well. I've rented from them twice (once in Scotland and once in England) and have always had wonderful service from them. The first time I went through Celtic Legend and the second time I booked direct. Both were very good experiences.

Celtic Legend gave us a better deal than Arnold Clark (the price was not only a bit better but it included GPS, extra driver, etc) ...and we LOVED them!!!

I had a rental from Arnold Clark last Auttumn via Celtic Legend . After checking out both options, my result was the same as Rebecca's .

I've rented from Arnold Clark three times. All three times I asked Celtic Legend for a quote and it was much higher than direct - maybe it's because I do my bookings far in advance? In May, we had a flat tire (hit a bad pothole) and AC said it would be 5-6 hours to get to Duncansby Stacks, so I got lucky and found an open garage on the Bank Holiday, got all fixed up with a new tire for L80, and when I returned the car to Aberdeen, AC called it even, not charging me for the latex kit I used or the fact the tire brand didn't match. I hadn't opted for tire coverage, so a new tire with mounting/balancing for L80 seemed cheap by even US Costco standards. Probably cheaper than the tire coverage for a 20 day rental, and my credit card would repay me if I bothered to file a claim.

Thank you all for the information! Booking from arnold clark direct shows that insurance and VAT is included. is this car insurance? We do get coverage from our credit card and our own car insurance covers us as well

They don't cover you for the CDW. If you don't waive the CDW, then you have to pay extra. If you do waive it, you agree to pay a £1000 deductible if there is any damage. I dinged my car on this past trip in England, and because I used my CDW coverage on my credit card, I had to pay the £1000 deductible when I returned it. But as soon as I got home, I put in a claim to my credit card, and they are reimbursing me for the amount I paid. In fact, I talked to them this week and the check is on its way.
