We will be driving from Isle of Skye to Glasgow. We have 5 days to play with in early June.
We were considering taking a ferry to Mallaig. We would then make our way to Fort William, Glencoe and Oban and the Trossachs.
We are open to any suggestions in regards in what we do once we leave the Isle of Skye. We have also looked at going to the island of Mull.
Thanks in advance.
In addition to the ferry from Armadale to Mallaig (which must be booked in advance if taking a car on board), you might also consider the Glenelg ferry, which is the last remaining turntable ferry in operation in the UK. It's a lovely little ferry and a very short crossing (10 minutes). You don't need to (and in fact can't) book in advance. It bring you out just past Eilean Donan castle on the mainland at Glenshiel.
I will leave it to others to suggest activities once you get to the mainland.
Best wishes

Unless it's changed there's a hide to watch otters/ birds about 200 yds from the slipway on the Skye side.
The drive over to the Glenelg ferry is dramatic on both sides
Worth doing
Yes the Otter hide is still there on the Skye side of the Glenelg ferry. There's also a nice new cafe on the mainland side, and in Glenelg itself a good pub, some historic brochs to visit and a boutique brewery. It's also worth driving down to Corran, where you could have lunch in Sheena's Tea Room - or if the weather is nice outside at picnic tables under the trees with wonderful sea views.
All of this would make for a magical (and largely undiscovered) day as you leave Skye.

Ooohhhh, that Glenelg Ferry might be just the thing for us!! Thanx Skyegirl.
We will be driving up and down the A87 a couple of times and I've been looking for alternative things to do, that ferry is pretty inexpensive and looks like a fun diversion to get on/off the island!
