I've booked a Rabbies one day tour from Edinburgh. The itinerary states that we visit certain castles, but entrance fees are not included. Two of the castles are covered by the Historic Environment Scotland Explorer Pass, which I was planning on purchasing. The Historic Environment Scotland website states that in addition to purchasing the pass, you also need to prebook a ticket to guarantee entry. The problem is that I have no idea what time we will be at those particular castles, so I'm not sure how I can prebook. I can contact Rabbies too of course, but it's currently nighttime there and I cannot seem to find an email address, only a phone number. Has anyone successfully used this pass to access various sites while on a tour? Thanks!
There’s no reason you couldn’t use the pass. When we got our annual pass in September we were told to just walk up and show the pass, or in our case, the receipt for the pass since we bought it in country. Other than Edinburgh castle where we bought the pass, we didn’t pre-book anyplace. I’m sure Rabbies informs the castle how many people it is bringing on its tour.
