Hello.
We will be visiting Great Britain in September and want to take the Caledonian Sleeper train from Edinburgh to London. Will likely have a BritRail pass.
I have been doing some research. According to the Man in Seat 61, in order to make a sleeper compartment reservation on this train with a pass, one can only do so by calling from overseas (not toll-free) or while in Britain. No mention of using the internet or anything.
Does anyone know if this is correct and if there are other ways to book? Would prefer to reserve before the trip starts but not have to pay for a pricey long-distance call.
Thanks.
In addition to those options, if you have a BritRail Pass, you can reserve the sleeper by calling 1-866-274-8724. Happy planning!
Here's a link to the CS - www.scotrail.co.uk/sleeper/about-the-sleeper. Check out the info on Bargin Berths.
Never taken the Sleeper, but the trip during the daytime is only about 4-1/2 hours. Maybe consider leaving after an early dinner rather than planning on a short sleep?
One way to save money on overseas calls is to use a service like 10-10-987. You can also use Skype (have to set up Skype Out, but then it's very cheap).
