Caledonian MacBrayne New Bookings 13 to 16 May

CalMac are introducing a new ticketing system this weekend, requiring changes to their website. You will be unable to make bookings between 0400 (4am) on Saturday 13 May and sometime on the morning of Tuesday 16 May- UK times.
This will include booking at ports.

On turn up and go routes you will still be able to buy tickets at ports as normal.

Anyone intending to travel on bookable routes on 13 to 16 May needs to book before 4am on 13 May.

Anyone traveling after 16 May will receive an e mail from CalMac with their new e-tickets.

After 16 May turn up and go routes will also have the option of being able to pre-book, but will also remain as turn up and go.

I saw that, and I'm hanging on to my printed tickets for now. :)

The software update has not gone well. The system is now down for a further 24 hours until the morning of 17 May.

I’m on the Uig—>Tarbert ferry on Thursday and I’m having a private bet with myself that it won’t be working yet.

I was first in the queue the other day to get on the ferry and one of the workers asked me if I minded waiting to let a large van on. Of course I said that was fine. He came up later and thanked me for my patience. It sounded like from what he was saying that they are getting a lot of verbal abuse from people for the ferry problems. It’s a shame - it’s certainly it their fault.

The MV Hebrides is one of the more reliable ferries in the fleet.
It's hard to believe that she's now 22 years old, with her replacement now running 5 years late.

Not all of it. 😊 I’m on the ferry right now going to Raasay, and they gave me the trip for free because the ticketing system has a problem. Evidently there’s some glitch in the system that stops them when they get to a certain point. So they just told everyone their trip was free today.

I've just tried to create an account three times, on two different devices and it won't let me. Just gets stuck when you try to press the final button- 'Create Account'.
Hope you enjoy Raasay and Calum's road

I love Raasay! I could easily move here. The roads are pretty bad but the beauty and solitude is mesmerizing. Calum’s Road was worth the drive - it’s amazing what he did. I really do love this place and I’m so glad I came.

Really glad you're enjoying Raasay Mardee, although the weather is not really doing it's best today!

Jacqui, yeah, the afternoon wasn't too great but at least I had the morning and some sun after that. :)

Unlike Harris and Lewis where I am right now, although the rain finally quit! It was horrible this morning - I'd planned to go to Luskentyre Beach but there was no way. So instead I went to two different tweed shops and bought a couple of meters of some Harris Tweed. Shopping is a good cure-all!
